Neighbourhoods, memory and dementia: early soundings from a qualitative mixed methods study into the neighbourhood experiences of people living with dementia and their carers: a seminar by Dr Richard Ward.

Richard Ward is a senior lecturer in dementia studies at the University of Stirling and is a registered social worker with a background in older adult services. His research has focused upon ageing, dementia and social care practice with a particular emphasis on participatory approaches. Richard’s current research focuses upon the role of the (social and physical) environment in the lives of people with dementia and the policy prominent notion of the ‘dementia friendly community’ and he is leading a 5 year study: ‘Neighbourhoods: our people, our places’ as part of a larger NIHR/ESRC research programme. He is also co-founder of the Memory Friendly Neighbourhood network, an online hub for the sharing on insights and good practice in relation to community-based support for people living with dementia.
