The Avon Primary Care Research Collaborative (APCRC) are holding a lunchtime seminar on the Footprints in Primary Care Study. The idea for this study originated with reception staff in a South Gloucestershire practice who felt improvements could be made regarding how the practice was caring for its most frequent attenders.

With help from patients, the idea was developed into a RCGP award-winning intervention. Funded by the NIHR RfPB Programme, a multidisciplinary team of researchers from the University of Bristol have collaborated with members of the original team to test the feasibility of this intervention across six local practices.

In this seminar, three members of the Footprints Study team will share their experience to date including the multiple methods they have used to explore which elements might determine the success or failure of the intervention; and the challenges they have faced in understanding how and why patients, GPs, and reception staff might resist or engage with the intervention.

The seminar will be presented by:

  • Rebecca Barnes (Study PI), Senior Research Fellow, University of Bristol
  • Helen Cramer, Researcher in Residence, Bristol CCG
  • Clare Thomas, Senior Research Associate, University of Bristol

The seminar will be followed by an opportunity to put your questions to the team.

Everyone is welcome. The seminar is free to attend. Please confirm your attendance by completing the registration form. Tea and coffee will be provided in South Plaza, feel free to bring your lunch with you.
