Co-production and public invol

An interactive workshop bringing you up to date with current thinking on public involvement and co-production. You will become familiar with the Public Involvement Toolkit, identify methods of involvement that you can use at work, draw on the experience and expertise of other participants to problem solving common issues related to public involvement and identify a source of peer support.

This event is for anyone who has a role in taking forward public involvement in the healthcare setting. This can include clinicians, healthcare professionals in primary and acute settings and lay representatives.

The workshop will help you to answer some common questions – is co-production the same as public involvement, what methods do I use, what about payments and managing expectations? You will become familiar with current policy and approaches to co-production. Lunch is provided.

• Welcome, introduction to the day
• What is public involvement – terminology
• Why do we do public involvement – the legal and policy context, good practice examples, evidence for its effectiveness
• Methods of public involvement – working in groups on real case studies, you will have a chance to understand the different methods available and when to use them, some of the challenges and how to manage expectations
• Peer learning – there will be a chance to learn from other experiences and build up a network for peer support
