This event will bring together organisations from across the West of England to discuss how to improve employment and health outcomes for our working age population, particularly those who have health conditions and those who are furthest away from employment.
The recent Green Paper ‘Work, health and disability: improving lives’ highlighted a 32 per cent gap in employment rates between disabled and non-disabled people. More than half of Employment and Support Allowances (ESA) claimants in the West of England have a mental health condition. This think tank event will explore what initiatives and resources are available and how these can be utilised to better effect. Speakers will identify the key challenges and opportunities and provide case studies and good practice from elsewhere.

Speakers

  • David Relph, Bristol Health Partners Director
  • Councillor Fi Hance, Cabinet Member for Health, Bristol City Council
  • Leo Cappella and Anna Denham, Disability Rights UK
  • Chris Shaw, Director of Health Improvement, Sheffield City Council
  • John Readman, Strategic Director of People, Bristol City Council
  • Becky Pollard, Director of Public Health, Bristol City Council
