How to support someone living with dementia

This three hour event will help you to understand how best to support someone living with dementia.

The afternoon will be split into two parts.

Part one

'Real life with dementia’ training for carers presented by Dr Maria-Paloma Sequeiros, Older Adults Psychiatrist for the South Gloucestershire Complex Interventions Team, Cheryl Buckley, Community Psychiatric Nurse for the South Gloucestershire Complex Interventions Team, and Beth Tovey, Dementia Day Opportunities Manager for South Gloucestershire. This session will last 40 minutes, with 30 minutes dedicated to time for questions.

Following this there will be a 30 minute break for refreshments and networking.

Part two

Four talks from Sharon Parsons, Dementia Care Trainer, Occupational Therapist, and co-lead of the education workstream for the Dementia HIT, Dr Hazel Boyd, User Interface Engineer with Designability, Liz Freeman, WE Care and Repair, and Carmen Arnaiz, The Care Forum. This session will explore supporting someone living with dementia in a hospital environment, assistive devices and technology, along with tips about choosing and using technology, as well as non-tech approaches. The session will last 40 minutes, with 30 minutes dedicated to time for questions.
