CIPIC conference round-up

More than 50 people gathered to hear how the Child Injury Prevention and Injury Care (CIPIC) Health Integration Team are working in Bristol to help prevent children's injuries, and to improve outcomes for those children and families affected by injury.

On Thursday 4 September 2014, more than 50 people gathered to hear how the Child Injury Prevention and Injury Care (CIPIC) Health Integration Team are working in Bristol to help prevent children’s injuries, and to improve the outcomes for those children and families affected by injury and trauma.

The multi-disciplinary audience consisted of medical and paramedic students, paramedics, children centre staff, specialist paediatric staff from University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UHBristol) and North Bristol NHS Trust, health visitors, physiotherapists and researchers from the University of the West of England (UWE) and the University of Bristol.

The event was led by Julie Mytton, Associate Professor in Child Health, UWE and Director of the CIPIC HIT. Download Julie’s presentation. Participants at this free event had the opportunity to hear from speakers including Eustace De Souza, Public Health England lead for children, young people and families. He spoke about two recent Public Health England publications, ‘Injuries in Children Aged 0-4 Years’ and ‘Injuries in Young People on the Road’. Download Eustace’s presentation.

James Rimmer, Chief Operating Officer at UHBristol, spoke about changes at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children as part of the restructuring of children’s care in the city. Download James’s presentation.
