Bristol Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) brings together the city region's universities, major health and care providers and commissioners, covering the 1.1M population in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) area. One of only 8 AHSCs in England, designated by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), NHS England and NHS Improvement, this internationally recognised designation acknowledges and unites our region’s excellence in healthcare provision, research and innovation, education and training to deliver healthier lives, through improved prevention of illness and disease and better integration of health and care services. The AHSC provides local researchers with effective and enduring networks through Health Integration Teams (comprising health professionals, researchers, commissioners, voluntary organisations & service users) which are focused on co-designing research projects and implementing findings to optimally deliver prevention and delivery of evidence-informed care. The AHSC also connects our region’s National Institute for Health Research infrastructure to support co-ordinated working on our area’s research priorities.
