Jean Golding Institute Showcas

The first Jean Golding Institute (JGI) Showcase will include a high profile public lecture, a showcase of JGI activities, displays of funded projects, data competition results and talks from funded projects.

Keynote speakers

• Trevor Hastie, Professor of Statistics and Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University ‘Statistical learning with big data’

• Dan Crichton, Program Manager, Principal Investigator and Principal Computer Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory ‘Data Science: Unlocking scientific research from space to biology’

Exhibition

Come and see the Beauty of Data competition pieces, a harp playing the tunes from Clifton Suspension Bridge, water quality monitoring in Bristol harbour, Bristol’s young BAME groups making plans for a new culture app, EPIC-KITCHENS, immune responses in wild mice, social movement differences and risk of psychosis and lots of other JGI funded projects.

Afternoon series of talks

Professor Nishan Canagarajah, Pro Vice Chancellor will introduce the afternoon key note speaker, Trevor Hastie, from Harvard University to be followed by JGI project talks and data competition prize giving.

Keynote talk

The Vice Chancellor Professor Hugh Brady will introduce the keynote speaker for the public lecture, Dan Crichton from NASA’s Jet propulsion Laboratory.
