A clean air plan for Bristol

A clean air action plan for Bristol is being developed, which includes proposals for a Clean Air Zone. This could see high-polluting vehicles charged a fee for using certain parts of the city, and whilst there will be a formal public consultation on the Plan in early 2019, Bristol City Council wants to engage with stakeholders from now onwards.

Bristol Green Capital Partnership is hosting a Partnership Gathering, organised in collaboration with Bristol City Council, as part of this engagement.

The purpose is to raise awareness of the proposals and their implications, find out which aspects can be influenced through consultation (and which can’t), and for the council to hear back on how the plan might affect individuals, families, businesses and organisations, and discuss potential ideas for mitigating any negative impacts. There’ll also be an opportunity to gain the information and tools needed to communicate with colleagues and constituents about the proposals.

Speakers will include Councillor Kye Dudd, representatives of UWE’s Air Quality Resource Management Centre (AQRMC) and the council officers and consultants working directly on the Clean Air Action Plan. There will also be workshops to enable attendees to have their say on parts of the plan and discuss how to cascade the information to your stakeholders ahead of the consultation.

The event is open to all – whether you are from a business, public sector body, third sector organisation or community group – air pollution and the measures needed to tackle it affect everyone. It’s free to attend but spaces are limited so book your place soon.
