Let’s Talk about Kidneys in Weston-Super-Mare

Our Kidney Disease Health Integration Team (HIT) ran a health education event Let’s Talk about Kidneys on 26 September in collaboration with Race Equality North Somerset.

People from across Weston-Super-Mare, including those from marginalised communities, spent the afternoon at the Other Place to find out more about their kidney health, filling the venue with creative expression and conversation.

NHS healthcare professionals were also on hand to provide free general health checks and answer questions about kidney disease and related health conditions.

The idea for the event came from Weston resident Soumeya Bouacida, a Bristol Health Partners public partner and a member of the local diverse Research Engagement Network, which aims to address race-related inequalities in health through improving diversity in research.
