Maria Kane OBE, Chief Executive, North Bristol NHS Trust. Interim Chair of the Bristol Health Partners AHSC Board (from April 2022)
Maria has been Chief Executive of North Bristol NHS Trust since April 2021. Before this, she held the role of Chief Executive of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, and previously worked as Chief Executive of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust between 2007 and 2017, and as Executive Director at North West London Strategic Health Authority between 2002 and 2006. Maria has held a variety of senior roles in corporate and strategic development for the Royal College of Midwives, the Medical Protection Society and the National Council of Voluntary Organisations.
Robert Woolley, Chief Executive, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and interim Chair of the Bristol Health Partners AHSC Board (until April 2022)
Robert has been Chief Executive of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust since 2010. He also held the Chief Executive post at Weston Area Health NHS Trust from 2019, in anticipation of the merger of the two Trusts to become University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust in April 2020. Before this, Robert was Director of Performance Management at United Bristol Healthcare Trust and was Project Director for the Trust’s successful application for Foundation status in 2008. Robert is co-executive lead for Healthier Together, the Integrated Care System for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
David Wynick, Director, Bristol Health Partners AHSC and Joint R&D Director for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and North Bristol NHS Trust
David is Professor of Molecular Medicine (University of Bristol) and Consultant in Pain Medicine (University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust). His research has validated a number of novel targets for neuropathic pain, he was cited as one of the top 60 entrepreneurial scientists in the UK and is translating his findings into preclinical drug development in collaboration with LifeArc. He co-led on the formation of Bristol Health Partners in 2012 and chairs the R&D subgroup of the University Hospitals Association.
Olly Watson, Interim Chief Operating Officer, Bristol Health Partners AHSC
Olly has worked in the Bristol Health Partners core team since February 2016. His work in the partnership builds on his experience at the connection between health and academia, with previous roles at the Higher Education Funding Council for England and Medical Schools Council. A prior degree in Social Policy at the University of York and Masters in Social and Cultural Theory at the University of Bristol provided an underpinning for these policy and project management roles. Olly moved into the interim COO role in November 2021 after 18 months job-sharing the role with Lisa King.
