Bladder and bowel support app wins Nursing Times Award 2021

28 October 2021

An app developed by Bristol Health Partners’ Bladder and Bowel Confidence Health Integration Team (BABCON HIT), which signposts people to find help with continence issues, has won a 2021 Nursing Times Award.

The CONfidence app won in the Continence Promotion and Care category, which was announced on 27 October 2021 at the Nursing Times Awards ceremony in London.

Launched in May, the app enables people with bladder and bowel symptoms to access information and advice that can help. It brings together trusted and reliable information, informed by national experts providing specialist bladder and bowel care. BABCON HIT worked with healthcare technology organisation Expert Self Care Ltd to design and build the app.

BABCON HIT director, Dr Nikki Cotterill, is Associate Professor in Continence Care and Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Scholar at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol. She says:

“I am beyond delighted that we have received this prestigious award. It recognises the commitment of all our patient and public partners, charity collaborators and key organisational partners who recognised the importance of this project. I really hope it can help to spread the word about the CONfidence app and help it to reach as many people as possible to improve symptoms of bladder and bowel leakage.”
