The first ever Bristol Health and Care Awards have attracted 191 entries across 15 categories. The awards, run by the Bristol Post with support from Bristol Health Partners, are a unique opportunity to celebrate the success and hard work of the health and care community in Bristol.

From local GP practices to hospital teams, voluntary sector organisations to health researchers, public health experts to community support groups, the entries showcase the commitment, innovation and compassion that runs through the health and care sector in Bristol. Judging takes place on 17 February, with the shortlist being announced shortly after.

Mike Norton, Editor of the Bristol Post said:

“For the first year of an awards, this is an extraordinary number of entries and I’m delighted at the response. However, I’m not surprised. One of the most common letters we receive at the Post is from readers writing to thank health care professionals for treatment they have received. I look forward to the judging – and celebrating the work of these great people at the awards ceremony.”

David Relph, Bristol Health Partners Director said:

“The fantastic response to these awards has been overwhelming. My thanks in advance to all those who will be involved in the judging – they have a very tough job choosing from such an impressive range of entries. The nominees represent some of the great work going on in this city, and I am delighted that Bristol Health Partners can play its part in getting these people the recognition they so rightly deserve. Thanks to everyone who entered and nominated – and good luck to you all.”

The winners will be announced at a gala celebration on 10 March in central Bristol. Visit www.bristolpost.co.uk/healthandcare/ to book your place.
