End of Life Matters HIT recruiting Peer Co-Director

Bristol Health Partners End of Life Matters Health Integration Team (ELM HIT) aims to improve health and care outcomes for people approaching end of life, the families, carers and communities that support them, and people experiencing bereavement.

To ensure that the voices of the people served are represented at all levels, the HIT is looking for a Peer Co-Director to join their leadership team.

Role and requirements

We would value a person with relevant experience of or interest in end-of-life care.

In this role we invite you to:

  • Share your views and experiences of care in advanced illness and at the end of life
  • Offer advice on how best to include other patients, their families and the wider public in the work of the HIT
  • Advise on projects/research
  • Help ensure all projects are carried out in a respectful way
  • Help us share our projects/research findings with the public
  • Lead the HIT’s Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities.

Main responsibilities and commitments

The Peer Co-Director is expected to:

  • Oversee PPI work for the ELM HIT.
  • Prepare for and attend in monthly HIT directors meetings. This will include preparatory tasks such as reading meeting papers that may be lengthy and/or complex.
  • Help to organise and take part in HIT workshops and events.
  • Comment on written materials produced (including proposals for research or service development).
  • Alongside fellow Co-Directors, co-write funding applications for Bristol Health Partners (annually) and other funding opportunities.
  • Attend Bristol Health Partners cross-HIT meetings to represent the work of the HIT and to share learning with the HIT leadership team.
  • Promote the work of the HIT to others.
  • Get involved in other relevant activities as appropriate.

*Although the post-holder is free to leave at any time, we would encourage a long-term commitment of up to three years.*

Payment and expenses

Payment for time will be £27.50 per hour for any HIT activities such as attending meetings or events.

Bus, train and taxi fares will be reimbursed as appropriate.

Mileage will be paid at 45 pence per mile and will include payments for parking.

*As a Peer Co-Director you have an equal voice in how the HIT is run. You will be supported in this role by your fellow HIT Co-Directors and the Senior Project Manager*
