Kidney Disease HIT welcomes new leadership team
- 12th March 2025
L-R: Sara Perkins, Dr Lucy Plumb and Dr Barny Hole
One of Bristol Health Partners’ longest-standing Health Integration Teams – the Kidney Disease HIT – has welcomed three new co-directors to its leadership team.
Dr Barny Hole, Dr Lucy Plumb and Sara Perkins take the place of Dr Pippa Bailey and Dr Dominic Taylor who stepped down from their roles as HIT co-directors earlier this year.
Both Pippa and Dominic remain involved in the HIT and we would like to thank them for their exceptional contribution over many years including, most recently, a successful campaign for national genetic testing to reduce the risk of kidney failure in Black African and Caribbean kidney donors.
About the new co-directors
Barny Hole is NIHR Doctoral Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. He says:
“My work in promoting personalised treatment aligns with the HIT’s objectives to enhance patient care and accessibility. I would like to see the HIT explore how people from all walks of life can be involved in improving their experience, and that of others, when living with life-changing diagnoses such as chronic kidney disease.”
A paediatrician, nephrologist and researcher, Lucy Plumb works alongside Barny as a Consultant Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol. She says:
“As a passionate advocate for children, young people with kidney disease and their families, I want to ensure the HIT develops and supports initiatives across the life course, and to encourage patient engagement in this group.”
Sara Perkins is a specialised clinical pharmacist in Kidney services at North Bristol NHS Trust. She says:
“I am passionate about improving equitable care for our patients and want to drive up standards of care for those living with chronic kidney disease by improving current patient pathways and experience.”
