Disabled Access Guide to Brist

Join DisabledGo, Bristol City Council, Visit Bristol and Mayor George Ferguson to celebrate the launch of the online DisabledGo Access Guide to Bristol.

The Bristol guide includes comprehensive access information on 1,000 shops, restaurants, leisure centres, hotels, parks and cinemas across Bristol. Come along and hear more about the guide and how it aims to maximise independence and choice for disabled people in Bristol.

The event opens at 10am with an address from Mayor George Ferguson, followed by a presentation of the new Bristol Access Guide and an opportunity to meet disabled-led organisations and organisations working with disabled people including Bristol Disability Equality Forum, Bristol Physical Access Chain, Welfare Rights and Money Advice, Shopmobility, Access Sport and the Tackling Discrimination Service.

• Refreshments will be available
• British sign language interpreters will be available at the event

The Great Eastern Hall is situated in the courtyard outside the SS Great Britain. The courtyard is cobbled but there is a level path running through the courtyard to the hall. The hall itself has level access and an accessible toilet. Parking is available in the SS Great Britain car park very close by. There are four spaces for blue badge holders.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event. It will especially welcome disabled people, people who support friends, family members or service users who have access needs for example – disabled children and young people, older people, disabled adults. The new access site gives information relevant for anyone with an access need, including people with mobility impairments, sensory impairments, learning difficulties and people on the autistic spectrum.
