Join Black Mothers Matter for a free open Eid event, centered on celebrating Black Muslim pregnancy and breastfeeding experiences and creating greater understanding between families and healthcare professionals.
This is an event for healthcare professionals, Muslim women, Black women and anyone interested in improving healthcare experiences for Muslim women and birthers. Men are also welcome.
This event will feature a panel discussion that amplifies lived experiences of pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and observing Ramadan within the Black Muslim community. The conversation will highlight the diversity of these experiences and explore how healthcare professionals can better meet the needs of Black Muslim families with culturally responsive and compassionate care. We will then come together to break bread, share some food and celebrate!
Panel discussion themes
- Advice and support panel members wished they had received
- How Ramadan is navigated during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Experiences of pregnancy and infant feeding while fasting
- What panel members would like healthcare professionals to understand about them and their care
