RCF: Collaborating for success

Over the last five years the Avon Primary Care Research Collaborative (APCRC) has received £4.4 million of Research Capability Funding (RCF). This is more than any other primary care research organisation in England. On 18 November they are holding an event which showcases and celebrates RCF funded work.

RCF supports research capacity and capability. A wide range of people, at all stages in their career have benefited from RCF funding. Several ground-breaking initiatives that span the boundaries between the NHS and local universities have also been possible through RCF funding. APCRC’s work is focussed on bridging the gap between research and practice.

The RCF: Collaborating for success event will showcase RCF funded work, highlight the many different schemes APCRC have funded using RCF, the success stories, and their plans for the future.

Keynote speakers

The first keynote speaker on the day is Professor Sir Malcolm Grant, Chair of NHS England. He will discuss how academic and healthcare communities can work together to meet the challenges of the modern NHS.

Dr Mark Taylor, Head of Impact at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Central Commissioning Facility, is the second keynote speaker and he will discuss how to achieve impact from research.

Other speakers

APCRC Director Dr Peter Brindle will discuss their strategy for collaborating for success. Research and Development Manager for APCRC Jo Hartland will also be speaking throughout the day.

Dr Helen Baxter and Professor Sarah Purdy of the Avoiding Hospital Admissions Health Integration Team (HIT) and Dr Julie Mytton of the Child Injury HIT among many others, will talk about career-spanning RCF opportunities.

Who should attend?

Health care commissioners, researchers, public health colleagues, patient and public representatives, and anyone with an interest in primary care and community research is encouraged to attend.
