Five things we've achieved since we joined the Shared Commitment to public involvement

  • 11th March 2024

Today [11 March 2024] marks the second anniversary of the Shared Commitment to improve public involvement in health and social care research.

Bristol Health Partners joined the Shared Commitment in September 2023. We’re proud to be the first Academic Health Science Centre to have joined and, in that short time, we have had much to celebrate.

Five things we’ve achieved since we joined the Shared Commitment

Here are five things we’ve achieved since we joined:

  1. We helped secure more NHS England funding to develop the diverse Research Engagement Network for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
  2. We helped recruit new Health Ambassadors to link researchers with diverse communities.
  3. We worked alongside community members to draw up terms of engagement for researchers.
  4. We co-designed and piloted a way to improve how personal data is collected when people agree to take part in research.
  5. We supported a pathway improvement project led by Dr Jane Meyrick (UWE Bristol), co-produced with child sexual abuse survivors, which won a BMA award.
