A new video from the Dementia Health Integration Team (HIT) showcases opportunities to get involved in dementia research, both locally and nationally. There are lots of studies for people who want to contribute to get involved in. You don’t need to have dementia, and there are studies recruiting people from all walks of life.

Professor Rik Cheston, who co-leads the Dementia HIT’s research stream, said:

“The film aims to give patients and carers the opportunity to learn more about research and how to help if they wish to take part. An enormous range of research takes place across Bristol – from research designed to develop new medication to a study looking at the experiences of people from Black and ethnic minority communities, to a project to help GPs to identify people who are at risk of developing dementia.

“These different forms of research all need people to volunteer their time and energy – people from all walks of life who either have a diagnosis of dementia or who look after or care for someone with dementia. Without their involvement, none of this research would have been possible – so if researchers are to take forward new studies, then we need as many people as possible to become involved in research.”
