The National Institute for Health Research’s (NIHR) national advisory group INVOLVE is consulting on a draft framework of values, principles and standards for public involvement to support involvement in research. The closing date for the consultation is 5 January 2015.

In 2013 INVOLVE reviewed resources, publications and reports that looked at values, principles and standards for public involvement in research. The review provided an overview of how others have discussed and defined principles and standards for public involvement.

This year INVOLVE brought a project advisory group together to look at whether it would be possible to develop a framework of values, principles and standards for public involvement to support involvement in research. It is hoped that the framework will be a flexible tool to allow learning, sharing and reflection.

The draft framework is now being put out for consultation, which will be revised based on the feedback received and then published in 2015. You may respond as an individual or send an organisational response.
